The Honest Bottle was created in response to the urgent need for a shift away from our disposable culture towards a more circular lifestyle, one that conserves the value of resources for as long as possible.
We recognised the imperative to prioritise circularity while maintaining a commitment to honesty in every aspect – towards ourselves, our product and our customers.
So why rPET (recycled soft drinks bottles)?
The decision to use 100% UK sourced rPET (recycled PET plastic) in making the Honest Bottle's bottle underscores our commitment to circularity. This choice not only gives the bottle its distinctive appearance with its unique shaded texture but also aligns with our ethos of minimising waste and environmental impact.
Despite the challenges posed by the softness of rPET for a reusable bottle (typically most are made from polypropylene plastic), the Honest Bottle embraces these imperfections as a testament to its genuine approach, rather than dismissing them as flaws.
Why rHDPE (recycled milk bottles)?
The Honest Bottle uses recycled HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) for its lid to help reduce the environmental impact of new plastic production. By using rHDPE, the need for virgin plastic is minimised, lowering the energy and resources required for new plastic production.
HDPE is one of the most commonly accepted plastics in UK recycling programs, so the Honest Bottle lid (and bottle) can be recycled easily at end of life.
The choice of recycled HDPE also ensures that the lid remains strong and durable, providing reliable protection for the contents of the bottle.
Keeping Honest
By creating the Honest Bottle from recycled materials, Honest demonstrates its commitment to sustainability, contributing to efforts to reduce plastic waste and promoting responsible consumption.
